Kikito I d'Aragó - Book Cover & illustrations

Kikito I d' Aragó e Due Sicilias - book cover and interior illustrations

This is a cover for a very special project. Self-published and produced by the author himself, this is a sort of modern Quixote that tells not only the journey of the fictional characters of Kikito I, king of Aragón, Plastopoles, his loyal counselor and Shiargtum, a mysterious deity that haunts the king. It is also a very intimate journey of the real person, a dedicated traveler in a desperate search for happiness and love.

I was commissioned to do the art for the book, comprising the book jacket and interior illustrations for the opening of each of the parts of the books plus coats of arms that will go in each episode (a.k.a. the different stops in the journey of Kikito and Plastopoles)

It would be too long to explain here all the symbolism and significance of all the characters and objects depicted in this illustrations. This was very important for the author, therefore the challenge of getting everything right!
